The Boone County Landfill, owned and operated by Boone County, is accepting applications for a Full-Time Landfill Equipment Operator. Position requires: ability to work in a team-based management environment; experience in operating a wide variety of heavy equipment; ability to obtain a State of Iowa landfill operator certification; ability to obtain an Iowa Commercial Drivers License with air brake and tanker endorsements, and; ability to deal with customers in a positive manner.
Position has a starting wage of $15.94/hour plus a competitive benefits package. A County employment application and job description may be obtained from the Boone County Auditor’s Office located on the second floor of the Boone County Courthouse, 201 State Street, in Boone.

Manage and oversee the operation and personnel of the Landfill Division.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, or related degree and a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in landfill operations and maintenance; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority. Must be Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) certified and operator-qualified for gas pipeline-related tasks as required by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission within one year of hire. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required prior to hire.
