Scholarships

In order to prepare the next generation for the environmentally and economically sound practice of solid waste, SWANA has developed several scholarship opportunities for students studying in fields related to solid waste management.

Applicants must apply for these scholarships through ISOSWO, the Iowa Chapter of SWANA. There are three scholarships available:

  1. Grant H. Flint Scholarship Category I (must be a family member of current SWANA member)
  2. Grant H. Flint Scholarship Category II (available to ALL students)
  3. Robert P. Stearns/SCS Engineers Scholarship (available to ALL students)

ISOSWO is accepting applications from ALL students in the Category II and Robert P. Stearns categories. Students only need to apply for SWANA student membership, which is FREE. Contact Jen Frampton for assistance, 641-828-8545.

To be eligible for Category I, the student must be a family member of a current SWANA member.

Read a summary of all scholarships available on the SWANA website.

Local awards for these will be $1,000 each. ISOSWO will then submit the local award winners to SWANA for consideration of the national scholarship award.

All scholarship winners will be invited to the 2018 Iowa Recycling and Solid Waste Management Conference and Trade Show in Council Bluffs, October 8-10, 2018.

Application deadline is May 1, 2018.
