Technical Advisory Committee
About the Committee
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is a voluntary collection of ISOSWO members who share an interest in solid waste/material management and collaborate to provide input/feedback on proposed guidance, policies, regulations and/or laws that govern/guide the industry. The collaboration generally occurs between committee members and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) but can extend to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

2025 Iowa Statewide Landfill Capacity Study
The Iowa statewide landfill capacity study was undertaken by the ISOSWO Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) in 2025 with the intent to understand landfill capacity at active sites throughout the state and to identify where conversations may be needed manage future waste volumes in an intentional and proactive manner.
The Committee was able to gather data from 27 of the 37 active landfills in the state. The ISOSWO Board intends to conduct the study on a 5yr recurring basis. If you have questions or comments, please reach out to the ISOSWO TAC at tac@isoswo.org.
